İtfa fonuna, borç belgelerinde belirlenen takvim uyarınca dönemsel olarak yatırılan tutardır; her ödeme, vadede itfa edilecek anaparanın önceden biriktirilen bir dilimini oluşturur. Bu ödemeler çoğu kez zorunlu bir taahhüt niteliği taşır ve aksatılması bağımsız bir temerrüt olayı sayılır. Proje finansmanında itfa fonu ödemelerinin nakit akışı şelalesindeki (waterfall) sırası kritiktir; ödeme, işletme giderleri ve cari borç servisinden sonra fakat sponsora yapılacak her türlü dağıtımdan önce gelir, bu da sponsorun projeden nakit çekme penceresini doğrudan daraltır.
English Definition
The amount deposited periodically into a sinking fund under the schedule set in the debt documents, each payment building a pre-funded slice of the principal to be redeemed at maturity. These payments are frequently a mandatory covenant, and a missed one is treated as a standalone event of default. In project finance the rank of sinking-fund payments in the cash-flow waterfall is critical; they fall after operating costs and current debt service but ahead of any distribution to the sponsor, which directly narrows the sponsor's window to draw cash from the project.
