Bir kredi ya da finansman düzenlemesinin, borçlu lehine standarttan sapan koşullarını topluca niteler — uzun vade, düşük faiz, ödemesiz dönem, gevşek teminat ya da esnek covenant. Terim tek bir orandan çok koşul paketinin bütününe işaret eder. Müzakere pratiğinde önemli olan, yumuşaklığın hangi kalemde konumlandığıdır: aynı hibe unsuru faize, vadeye ya da ödemesiz döneme dağıtılabilir ve borçlunun nakit akış profiline göre bunların değeri çok farklıdır; inşa dönemi uzun bir projede ödemesiz dönemdeki bir yıl, faiz indiriminden çoğu zaman daha kıymetlidir.
English Definition
The terms of a loan or financing arrangement that depart from the standard in the borrower's favour, taken collectively — long tenor, low interest, a grace period, light collateral or loose covenants. The term points to the whole package of conditions rather than to any single rate. What matters in negotiation is where the softness is placed: the same grant element can be distributed across rate, tenor or grace, and their value differs sharply with the borrower's cash-flow profile — for a project with a long construction phase, one extra year of grace is often worth more than a cut in the rate.
