An investment fund concentrated on a specific sector, theme or asset type, tracking a narrow field of expertise rather than a broad market index. The nuance in practice is that specialty funds typically carry a higher management fee, and that fee is justifiable only to the extent the manager's niche knowledge produces genuine alpha.
