Authoritative statements or technical specifications issued by recognised professional or regulatory bodies that establish minimum requirements, benchmarks, or best practices for a particular field of activity. In financial reporting, standards such as IFRS and US GAAP prescribe the methods for recognising, measuring, presenting, and disclosing financial transactions. In project finance and infrastructure, standards encompass engineering specifications, environmental performance benchmarks, and procurement guidelines that participants must satisfy.
