Bir borçlanma aracının anaparanın tamamının sözleşme gereği ödenmesinin öngörüldüğü resmi son tarihtir. Bu tarih; erken itfa (call), geri çağırma ya da hızlandırma (acceleration) gibi mekanizmalarla fiilen kısalabilecek 'beklenen vade'den ayrılır; dolayısıyla beyan edilen vade en geç ödeme anını, ortalama ömür (weighted average life) ise gerçek nakit akışı profilini gösterir. Proje finansmanında borcun beyan edilen vadesi ile varlığın ekonomik ömrü arasındaki ilişki kritiktir; vade, gelir üreten ömrün gerisinde kaldığında bir 'tail' oluşur ve bu kuyruk, yeniden finansman riskini ve borç servis rezervinin boyutunu doğrudan belirler.
English Definition
The formal final date on which the entire principal of a debt instrument is contractually scheduled to be repaid. This date differs from the expected maturity, which can effectively shorten through mechanisms such as a call, redemption or acceleration; thus stated maturity marks the latest payment moment, while weighted average life shows the true cash-flow profile. In project finance the relation between the debt's stated maturity and the asset's economic life is critical; when maturity falls short of the revenue-producing life a tail forms, and that tail directly sets the refinancing risk and the size of the debt service reserve.
