A syndicated loan is a large-scale credit provided jointly by a group of lenders to a borrower under a single pre-agreed structure. In project finance, because the debt requirement of capital-intensive facilities exceeds any single institution's risk appetite, this format is the standard means of spreading both size and concentration risk across counterparties. Pricing, commitment fees, and the drawdown schedule are matched to the construction spending curve, and the commitment fee paid on undrawn amounts is the hidden cost of the sponsor committing liquidity early.
