English Definition
To accept physical receipt of a commodity, security certificate, or other asset pursuant to a contract or trade. In futures markets, taking delivery means the buyer accepts the underlying commodity when the contract expires rather than closing out the position. The process typically involves transfer of title and assumption of storage or custody obligations.
