English Definition
A capacity unit expressing the mass a facility or processing unit handles or produces in a day, stated in tonnes. In project finance this unit is not merely a technical indicator but the anchor of the revenue model: because nameplate capacity in mining, cement, waste-processing, and chemical plants is defined in tonnes per day, debt-service capacity rests on that nameplate multiplied by the realized capacity-utilization rate. Lenders frequently tie the completion test to a sustained daily tonnage output over a set period; failing the test is the threshold that determines when the sponsor guarantee is called.
