English Definition
A capacity unit measuring the mass a facility or piece of equipment handles in an hour, stated in tonnes, expressing instantaneous throughput; it is the moment-to-moment counterpart of daily capacity divided by hours of operation. In project finance tonnes per hour becomes decisive in completion tests and performance guarantees, since whether a facility can sustain its nameplate hourly rate over the contracted period is the critical test of genuine producibility. Because the gap between instantaneous rate and average daily output usually arises from unplanned stoppages and commissioning problems, the spread between the two metrics is an early indicator of operational risk.
