Expenses incurred in moving goods, materials, equipment, or personnel from one location to another by any mode of transportation including road, rail, sea, and air. Transport costs are a significant component of supply chain economics and project development budgets, influencing the competitiveness of export goods and the feasibility of infrastructure projects. In accounting, transport costs may be capitalized as part of asset acquisition costs or expensed as period costs.
