English Definition
A person or institution appointed to hold and manage assets or property for the benefit of beneficiaries in accordance with the terms of a trust agreement. Trustees owe fiduciary duties of loyalty, care, and impartiality to beneficiaries. In bond issuances and project finance, the trustee acts as the representative of bondholders or lenders, enforcing security interests and ensuring covenant compliance.
