English Definition
Shares that have been authorised in a company's articles of incorporation but have not yet been issued or sold to investors. Unissued stock provides the company with the flexibility to raise additional equity capital in the future without requiring a shareholder vote to increase authorised capital. The board of directors typically has the authority to issue these shares at its discretion, subject to pre-emptive rights.
