A representative specimen taken from a batch or lot of goods for quality inspection, testing, or valuation purposes. Unit sampling is a standard practice in trade finance, commodity inspection, and insurance claims where examining every item is impractical. The results of the unit sample are extrapolated to assess the quality and conformity of the entire consignment.
