English Definition
The process of determining the relative worth of a national currency against other currencies or a basket of reference currencies. Currency valuation is influenced by macroeconomic fundamentals including interest rates, inflation, trade balances, and capital flows. Central banks and monetary authorities may intervene in foreign exchange markets to influence currency valuations, while market participants use fundamental and technical analysis to assess fair value.
