English Definition
A corporate strategy in which a company expands its operations to control multiple stages of the supply chain, from raw material procurement through production to distribution and retail. Vertical integration may be achieved through acquisitions, mergers, or organic expansion. The strategy can reduce costs, improve supply chain coordination, and create barriers to entry, but also increases capital requirements, operational complexity, and exposure to market risk across multiple business segments.
