English Definition
The effect that a development, infrastructure project, or industrial installation has on the aesthetic quality of the surrounding landscape and built environment. Visual impact assessment is a component of environmental impact assessment required for projects such as wind farms, power transmission lines, and large-scale construction. Mitigation measures may include design modifications, landscaping, screening, and siting adjustments to minimise adverse effects on scenic values and community acceptance.
