A class of equity security that carries the right to vote at shareholders' meetings, entitling the holder to participate in corporate governance decisions. Voting right shares are distinguished from non-voting shares, which may offer preferential dividend rights or other economic benefits in exchange for the absence of governance participation. The allocation and structure of voting right shares significantly influence corporate control dynamics, takeover defences, and the balance of power between majority and minority shareholders.
