English Definition
An equity share in a company that entitles the holder to vote on resolutions put before the general meeting of shareholders, including the appointment and removal of directors, approval of major transactions, and changes to the company's constitution. Voting shares represent the primary mechanism through which shareholders exercise corporate governance rights. The proportion of voting shares held determines the degree of control or influence a shareholder can exert over the company's strategic and operational decisions.
