Bir taşıyıcının belirli bir yükü teslim aldığını ve taşıma sözleşmesinin koşullarını gösteren, ciro edilemez taşıma belgesidir. Konşimentodan farkı, malın mülkiyetini temsil etmemesi ve teslimatın belgenin ibrazına bağlı olmamasıdır; bu yüzden malın adı belirtilen alıcıya doğrudan tesliminde işlemi hızlandırır. Akreditif temelli emtia finansmanında ise bu özellik bir zafiyet doğurur: banka mülkiyet belgesi olarak konşimento üzerinde teminat kurabilirken, waybill teminat işlevi görmediği için finansmanın yapılandırılmasında ödeme kontrolünü zayıflatır.
English Definition
A non-negotiable transport document evidencing that a carrier has received a given consignment and setting out the terms of the contract of carriage. Unlike a bill of lading it does not represent title to the goods and delivery is not conditioned on presentation of the document, which speeds delivery straight to the named consignee. In letter-of-credit commodity finance that feature creates a weakness: whereas a bank can take security over a bill of lading as a document of title, a waybill performs no security function and thus weakens payment control in structuring the financing.
