Bir varlığın kullanım sırasında sürtünme, yük ya da çevresel etkiyle fiziksel olarak yıpranması ve performansının zamanla gerilemesidir. Muhasebede bu fiziksel gerçek amortisman yoluyla değere yansıtılır; ancak defter amortismanı ile varlığın gerçek aşınma hızı çoğu zaman örtüşmez. English Definition
The physical degradation of an asset during use through friction, load or environmental exposure, with performance declining over time. In accounting this physical fact is reflected through depreciation, yet book depreciation and an asset's real rate of wear seldom coincide. In capital-intensive projects the distinction is critical: the true wear curve of equipment such as turbines, compressors or lines governs the timing of planned maintenance spend and ultimately of the major-overhaul reserve, which lenders require to sit in a separate maintenance account funded ahead of any dividend distribution.
