Sözleşmeye bağlı uzun vadeli projelerde WIP'in muhasebeleştirilmesi, gelirin tamamlanma yüzdesine göre mi yoksa iş bitiminde mi tanınacağı seçimiyle doğrudan ilişkilidir ve bu seçim raporlanan kârın zamanlamasını belirler. English Definition
The balance-sheet value of work that has begun but is not yet complete in a production or construction process, carried at the material, labor and overhead expended on it to date. In contract-based long-term projects, accounting for WIP is bound up with the choice between recognizing revenue on a percentage-of-completion basis or at completion, and that choice governs the timing of reported profit. The key observation is that WIP is also a working-capital item; the amount a contractor has spent but cannot yet bill as a milestone opens a gap in the cash cycle that is often bridged by construction finance.
