A five-institution development-finance group bringing together the World Bank (IBRD and IDA), the private-sector arm IFC, the political-risk insurer MIGA, and the investment-dispute arbitration centre ICSID. Its value in project finance lies in assembling debt, equity, guarantees, and arbitral protection through a single umbrella. When IFC enters a project with equity or a loan while MIGA insures expropriation and transfer-restriction risk, the combination creates a structural comfort for commercial financiers that a standalone commercial package rarely matches.
